As Don Sahli’s Marketing Director, I needed to know what sets Don Sahli apart from other artists. When the task was completed, I had a list of what I call Must-Knows about Don Sahli. I felt compelled to share!
Don is an established professional artist of more than 30 years.
Don Sahli began showing his work in galleries at age 17. Or as he says, “as soon as I could legally drive, I loaded the paintings in the car and headed to Taos.”
As the last apprentice to the famous Russian colorist, Sergei Bongart, he is trained in the Russian School of Painting.
Don embraces this 150-year legacy of painting and art instruction in his painting and teaching accomplishments.
Don paints with confidence and fervor!
He has a unique and unparalleled ability to create large works conveying the emotion and beauty of a scene.
While Don’s work could easily be described using many of the “isms” of today; his work is on the cutting edge in terms of color, design and passion.
He has a remarkable understanding for color and how to use it in his paintings.
“My goal is to go past just the image to touch the viewer in a way that evokes emotion and introspection,” says Sahli.
The images on his canvases capture the extraordinary in the ordinary; portraying the waning images – nostalgic reflections of places and things once common and now slowly disappearing.
Through a little prodding, Sahli allowed me the use of blog, I hope you enjoy. And please feel free to share your comments with me. Don continues his journey through masterful painting and inspired art instruction.
